DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
