Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of drug treatment facility on account of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or any other kind of drug related crime that has led the court to think the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered from the judge it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they're able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be totally eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and completes the alcohol and drug rehab facility that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who take part in treatment instead of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive powerful treatment.
