Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation center because of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for example if someone else is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other kind of drug related offense which has led the court to think that the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the judge it is wise that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be completely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in rehab and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab program which has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who experience rehabilitation in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
