DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road.
