DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
