Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation program due to a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for instance when someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or any other type of drug related crime which has led the court to believe that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the court it's wise that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be totally eradicated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug rehab center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences.
