DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
