DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
