DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
