DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
