DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
