DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
