DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
