Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehab facility because of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related offense which has led a legal court to think that the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered through the judge it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in rehab and completes the drug treatment program that has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who do experience treatment in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
