DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
