DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road.
