DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
