DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
