DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
