DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
