DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
