DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
