DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
