DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
