Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehab program because of alcohol or drug related crime. This will occur for instance when someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led the court to think the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the judge it is wise that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be totally eliminated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehab and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab center which has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who experience rehabilitation in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
