DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use.
