DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
