DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse.
