DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
