Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone else is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related offense that has led the court to believe the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences can be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehab and finishes the drug treatment program which was ordered for them. First-time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do take part in treatment in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
