DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
