Those that have handicaps in life, say for example a hearing impairment, may be predisposed to drug or alcohol use due to their handicap. Being hearing impaired and without the ability to cope with everyday living because of this handicap may cause a great deal of strain, and trigger drug abuse. Likewise, people who are hearing impaired can face certain challenges within a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center which may not accommodate the requirements of the hearing impaired. Fortunately, there are hearing impaired rehab services specifically designed to meet the needs of these clients, with rehab counselors on-site who offer ASL or other assistance so that hearing impaired clients can reap the total advantages of their treatment.
