DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
