DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road.
