DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
