DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
