DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
