DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
