DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
