DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
