DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
