DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
