DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
