DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
