DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
