DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system.
