Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation center on account of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for example if someone else is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to believe the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered by the judge it is well advised that the individual do everything they are able to to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment center that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
