Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment facility due to a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for instance when someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or any other kind of drug related crime that has led a legal court to believe that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug treatment facility as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered by the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehab and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab facility that is ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehabilitation instead of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to jail time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
