DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
