Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for example when someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the judge it's wise that the individual try everything they are able to to get the most from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences may be totally eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in treatment and completes the alcohol and drug treatment center that is ordered for them. New offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that do experience treatment instead of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
